5 Ways to Celebrate National Drink Wine Day
Happy National Drink Wine Day! What? You didn't know that was a thing? Well, now you do and the world is suddenly a better place. How will you be celebrating, besides in the most obvious way possible? We've got some ideas on how to pay homage to your favorite libation, but the vino you'll have to supply yourself. (Don't know where to start? Here is the perfect six-pack for the occasion.)
1. Queue up a wine movie marathon
Bottle Shock. Sideways. Somm. Heck, why not throw A Walk in the Clouds in there – it takes place in at a vineyard, and Keanu looks so fine in 1940s garb. Just grab a couple of friends, a few bottles, and press play. Then indulge in a lengthy discussion of how the movies rank afterwards. Wine and films. When did you get so high-brow?
2. Host a wine night
The more the merrier on National Drink Wine Day! It's the perfect excuse to invite a few friends over for a wine night, complete with a theme and an oversize bunch of grapes made out of purple balloons. Here are some of our ideas for hosting a regional wine party.
3. Learn how to really taste wine
The time has come for you to graduate from wine dabbler to true wine connoisseur. All you have to do is learn to taste – and I mean really taste – properly. Think wine tasting is for pretenders and sycophants? Let us dispel you of that notion.
4. Turn all those corks into something useful
What? You've never made a cork wreathe? And you call yourself an oenophile. I can't think of a better way to celebrate National Drink Wine Day than by breaking out the hot glue gun and spending the afternoon crafting my brains out. I'm sure you feel the same way.
5. Bone up on your wine knowledge
Who invented winemaking? How many bubbles are in a glass of Champagne? Where can you sample a wine-flavored Kit-Kat? All these pressing questions and more are answered in our past posts on wine history and fun wine facts.
