Coffee with a Kick
It's no longer necessary to choose between coffee and wine in the late afternoon. Two Napa Valley entrepreneurs, winemaker Rick Molinari and master roaster John Weaver, have joined forces to create Molinari Private Reserve coffee grounds — wine-infused coffee beans. It even comes in both decaf and regular.
Infusing coffee with wine isn't as simple as throwing any old vino and joe together. It took more than two years of experimenting for the experts to develop the perfect beverage — a "rich, full-bodied coffee with a blueberry note." The beans are rehydrated to a specific liquid percentage using red wine, then dried and hand-roasted in small batches.
The coffee is available at various Napa Valley coffee and wine shops ($20 for a half-pound bag). You can also order it online at the Molinari Private Reserve website.
