Join Lot18 in a Day of Fasting
For the next several days, Lot18 is helping to raise awareness and donations to help stop child hunger and famine. On December 19, 2011, several Lot18 team members will be fasting in support of famine relief. Contributions benefit Concern Worldwide US, an organization that works in many desperate, disaster-ravaged and poverty-stricken areas of the world to provide — and teach methods of — healthcare, disease prevention, sanitation and sustainable food production. Concern is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Visit our Crowdrise page to make a donation in support of CONCERN4HUNGER.
I serve on the board of Concern, but the importance of the organization’s work truly became meaningful during a trip I took to Haiti earlier this year. I wrote this post for Concern’s blog shortly after I returned home to New York.
Your contribution will ensure that those less fortunate than us may get a better chance at mere survival — maybe even with some measure of foreseeable comfort and happiness.
Leading up to December 19, 2011, we’ll be accepting donations via the Crowdrise page in hopes of achieving Concern’s goal of $10,000. We’re currently a little more than halfway there, and I encourage you to give the best gift of all this holiday season: life.
A donation of:
$15 provides clean water for a child.
$30 buys four balanced meals for a family.
$60 brings a malnourished child back to health.
I ask that you please consider donating to a cause that I personally stand behind, as does our team here at Lot18. Much of our staff is fasting on December 19 in support of famine relief because 3.5 million children die from hunger or hunger-related causes every year. Help change this now by showing your support for one of the most important humanitarian issues today.
