If you have nothing to do on April 14, get yourself a ticket to Pinot in the City at City Winery (6-9pm). Actually, if you already have something to do, cancel. You want to be at this tasting.
While a ticket costs about the same as a high-end bottle of Willamette Valley Pinot, this event is very much worth the time and expense. There will be 50 Willamette winemakers on hand, each pouring plenty of their wines. This is a rare chance to meet the people who make some of the best Pinot on earth, all in one place – and you'll most definitely taste some incredible juice. All the big names will be present: Chehalem, Domaine Drouhin, Domaine Serene, Erath, Mouton Noir (long a Lot18 favorite), Ponzi, Rex Hill, Soter – and many, many more. You can see the full list of participating producers here.
When and where else can you try some of the world's greatest wines alongside legions of fellow NYC-area Pinotheads? It'll be sort of like Burning Man, only with cooler weather...and clothing. OK, it'll be much better, actually.
