Spring to the Loire Valley Wine Tasting

We had the pleasure of trying some amazing wines from the Loire Valley at a tasting here in NYC. This is the Loire vintners' 4th annual tour around the States, and we joined them at The Park for some strolling in the sun and tasting.

With more than 350 wines on display, the wonderful aromas of the best wines from the region filled the air. The Loire Valley produces 380 million bottles a year in all variations: red, white and rosé; dry, off-dry and sweet; still and sparkling.

The event included some fun informational seminars. We sat in on one called "Discovering the Diversity of Loire Wines" and learned a lot about the various varietals that thrive in the region. It helped us taste the differences between those great wines, all grown near one another.

We also made it to "Fresh Whites: Muscadet vs. Chenin vs. Sauvignon," where we participated in a delightful white wine-only tasting and learned about the winemaking process for these wines from soil to bottle.

The wines from the Loire are known for being refreshing, with a strong mineral flavor and a touch of floral. There's no better way to indulge in spring sipping than with wines from "the garden of France."
