Trade Joe's Ups the Canned Wine Game
Last summer, Trader Joe's learned a hard lesson with their Simpler Wines slim-canned wines. Americans can't abide by slim cans. They need the full 375mL. The slim can size was simply not enough for all the summertime guzzling we were doing, and the grocery chain couldn't keep up with demand, which led to Simpler Wines being sold out across the country for most of the year.
Enter the latest iteration of Simpler Wines, just in time for this summer: Simpler Wines Too Uncanny. This line of wines from Australia tackles four varieties: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, rosé and a red blend, and lacks the cheap and cheerful effervescence found in the previous year's offerings. Trader Joe's canned wines are growing up, if you will.
Contained in the standard can size, these wines will give you a generous pour of about two glasses of wine each, at $3 per can. Expect to see them all over the beaches and campgrounds this summer.
