Wines of Provence: Masters of Casual Elegance

We took a break from our busy wine work to attend an event run by Wines of Provence. The event, Mastering Casual Elegance, took us on a journey to experience what life is like in Provence. This region in France is known for its superb rosés, lavender fields, and charming lifestyle.

We spent a few hours in the sun learning about the wines, the winemaking processes, and the region. 89% of the wine production in Provence is dedicated to rosés for all seasons, and we were lucky enough to try some.

Fifteen producers poured rosés of all kinds and even the occasional red wine. Some of the wines were organically produced; 24% of the region's vineyards are organic, which is much higher than France's national average.

We were atop the Refinery Hotel in New York, surrounded by the sights and smells of Provence. We attended a couple of seminars to learn more about Provence's terroir.

Provence exports 43% of their rosé to us here in the US. We happen to be the second biggest fans of rosé, after France. And hey, what's not to love?
